The priest has allowed his beliefs to become so warped that he can somehow justify destroying the lives of others. He has taken the normal values of society and reversed them in order to sate his own carnal desires. The swirls around his head force our attention to the fact that this is a priest, a man who is supposed to look after the spiritual well-being of others. While society tries to excuse or deny his twisted acts, the horns remind us that he is indeed truly evil.
